So you have decided to give backpacking a shot. Now, where do you start?!
Backpacking can be a little overwhelming when just starting out.
- Where do I get gear?
- What kind do I need?
- Where should I go?
- How do I plan?
These are all questions I asked before my first trip. My head was spinning!
Take a look a some “How To Articles.” These are all based on my trials and tribulations throughout the years.
- How to Choose a Backpacking Stove
- How to Choose a Campsite
- Backpacking Meals – Evolution of My Eating Habits
- Waterproof Backpacks – Do I Need One for Backpacking?
- Choosing A Backpack
- A Woman Backpacking Solo
I could list more, but you can also check out the list @ the Q&A Tag on the right side of the page.
Planning & Logistics
This is often one of the hardest parts of the trips, but one I enjoy the most!
I have a tag for gear lists. I update one for each trip since I’m often trying new gear.
I started adding gear lists recently, so I don’t have them all, but here are a few.
I’ve focused more on planning in my last few hikes.
Each Hike Page has 3 Sections – Overview, Gear, Planning. The Arizona Trail is a good example.
The Arizona Trail Planning Page takes you through all the “nuts and bolts” of the plan.
- How I got to the trail
- What services and tools I used
- How I labeled resupply boxes
- What map apps did I use
- What maps did I use
Not all trails have these pages, and some trails I did years ago, but I’m working to update them as I have time.
If you can’t find the information you need, don’t hesitate to email me a email@example.com. Even if I’m hiking, I’ll probably get back to you in a day or so.
