The Arizona Trail traverses numerous mountain ranges, and the desert ecosystems I find beautiful. I’m looking forward this hike beginning early Spring of 2020.

Doing some old photo clean-up on this rainy Saturday morning, and came across these classic shots from the PCT hike. They look so warm!

Winter is officially here. 🥶 I run around in my snowy gear, playing my winter sports, but honestly...I’m southern...and a cold wimp. I CANT WAIT to head to Arizona in Feb/March! Bring on the desert!

One last walk before the storm. Snow starts around lunch time today, so I decided one last “snowless” hurrah was in order. It was COLD at around 24 degrees. I literally jogged to keep my body temperature up, and had a beautiful, invigorating blast on a gorgeous day! 🙂

This little guy about scared the bejeezies out of me while I was eating lunch on the AT one day. I don't mind snakes, unless they hover 1 inch from my face. :-)

A beautiful day for a hike down past Sages Ravine and up to Race Mountain. It was chilly and frosty, but everything melted fast as it warmed up. Having no tread, I unintentionally skied a little, only catching myself with my padded cheeks a couple of times!

Brassie Brook is one of the AT shelters I like a lot. It has a good water source and is perched on the side of the mountain. Even though I did not see a soul on this particular day, I still smiled at the echoes of laughter from memories past. 🙂

I’m always intrigued by these old structures I find in my wanderings - wondering about their use, and past importance.

With one last splash of color, one final gasp of Fall, I’m reminded that outliers are often the most beautiful.

Although not the highest point (Bear Mountain), Lion’s Head, near Salisbury, Connecticut, has some of the best views.

Today’s wildlife is coming at ya from the AT.

The whitetail are there, dashing across the meadow - just squint.

I don’t think the snake is poisonous, but he was angry when I moved him off the trail, so good thing.

The picture of the black and garnet, fuzzy caterpillar is for Junior - GO GAMECOCKS!!

‪I think I may have just missed peak colors while I was down in New Orleans this week, but I hope to catch a few splashes of color when I head out for a few days of backpacking next week.‬

Prowling the swamps around New Orleans was fascinating. They were beautiful and teeming with life. The gators are clearly conditioned, and got a little close as they climbed onto the boat searching for food!👀
